Picnic, the leading quality media platform, recently announced the launch of its inaugural Media Quality Report, an annual report aimed at defining and measuring media quality in the digital advertising ecosystem. As part of this report, Picnic today (November 5th, 2024) reveals the top 10 publishers in the UK for 2024, as determined by Picnic Inventory Quality (PIQ), the company’s proprietary technology that gives a quantitative assessment of quality for any given domain.
The Media Quality Report highlights the publishers that provide the best online experiences for both users and advertisers. The top 10 publishers in the UK for 2024, in the following order, are:
- Yahoo.com
- nature.com
- engadget.com
- wired.com
- techcrunch.com
- healthline.com
- lonelyplanet.com
- msn.com
- newscientist.com
- drugs.com
These publishers have been identified for their ability to offer high-quality media environments that drive measurable business outcomes for advertisers. Each domain was evaluated using PIQ technology, which applies over 100 quality signals such as ad density, ad refresh rate, and robots.txt. The signals are then bucketed into 3 Indexes, Experience, Media Opportunity, and Risk Profile, and each index is allocated a unique score.
Picnic’s co-founder and CEO, Matthew Goldhill, commented: "Media quality is paramount for ensuring that both advertisers and users benefit from online environments. PIQ has been designed to take a granular approach to evaluating quality, giving advertisers the assurance that they are working with trusted, high-performing domains. We’re proud to recognise the top 10 publishers in the UK for 2024, who set the standard in the industry."
Picnic has been a pioneer in promoting media quality, starting five years ago by utilising Google’s Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) to signal fast, high-quality web pages. Since then, the company has developed its own technology, supported by a vast dataset that evaluates quality across the internet, ensuring that brands can access the highest quality inventory.
